前言

文|陈亚力

地域性一直牵制、左右着艺术的规模、程度和影响力。地域是屏障，同时也是土壤。福建地处中国东南，偏居一隅，艺术创作方面自古以来一直尝试着向文化中心区域看齐，但因常被斥为“闽习”而长期无法建立起文化自信与地域认同。但是这一局面随着全球化时代的到来而迅速发生着变化，整个世界迅速被拉“平”，信息的交流不再因地域而产生障碍，但是文化同质化的现象如瘟疫般蔓延。随着全球化的深入，追求个性的青年人反而在呼唤着多元的文化形态，地域性则突然不再是一种时空的局限，反倒成为了富涵养分的土壤。“自我表达”开始成为新生代艺术家重要的研究课题，个人的地域性所带来的特殊性常常会成为其重要的营养源与创作策略。

本次展览通过一种地域“取样”的方式邀请来自出生、求学以及工作于不同地区的“千禧一代”艺术家，展示他们各自在绘画、雕塑、观念艺术等领域内的代表性成果，向观众传递新生代艺术家在面对上文所提及的地域性与全球性的冲突所造成的改变或坚守。从每一位参展的艺术家身上，我们都可以看到交织着矛盾的创造力与永不止歇的探索精神。

Regionalism has always been constraining and affecting the scale, intensity and influence of art. Region is a barrier, as well as a soil. Fujian province is located the southeast part of China, geographically and culturally isolated. The artistic creations in this area have long been trying to keep up with the culture center, but always neglected as “Stereotyped Fujian Stuffs” , which blocks the buildup of its cultural confidence and regional cultural identity. The good point is that this barrier is rapidly cleared off with the coming of globalization. The whole world is dragged to a platform with almost the same height in a short time. Region is no longer a barrier of communication, but the phenomenon of cultural homogenization is spreading like a plague. With globalization going further, the youth, craving for individuality, start to promote culture diversity. Region is suddenly cleared off with all the barriers. Instead, it becomes a soil with nutrition. “Self-expression” becomes an important research topic for those new breed artists. The land that breeds him provides also very unique nutrition to his art creation.

This exhibition, by the way of taking samples from various areas, invites the “Millenium” artists, born and studied or working in Fujian, to present their achievements in sects like painting, sculpture, and conceptual art, and to display the new generation artists’ persistence and change, when confronting, what we mentioned above, the conflicts between regionalism and globalization. From each participant, we can happily see their creativity out of the interweaving conflicts and their exploring spirit that never seem to cease.
